We repair inverter drives and VFDs. We are a small workshop, so there is no call centre and no queue. The useful thing to know is who picks things up and in what order, so here it is.
An email or a phone call, usually with the make and model off the drive and a description of what it is doing. That is enough to say whether it is worth sending the unit in.
The unit is tested in the workshop and you are told what is actually wrong with it, including when the honest answer is that repair does not make commercial sense.
Work is carried out and the unit is tested before it goes back. If something changes from the original assessment, you hear about it before the work happens rather than on the invoice.
Returned with a note of what was done. Anyone in the workshop can tell you the history of a unit that has been through us.
